Contemporary Conversations in Anthropological Theory
ANTH 4850
The goal of this course is to introduce and explore the diversity of contemporary theories in sociocultural anthropology. Specifically, we : i) examine their genealogies, ii) explore what they contribute to anthropology, the social sciences and humanities, and pressing global issues, and iii) become familiar with key writings and works, and thus key critical conversations within contemporary anthropological practice now.
Anthropologies of Land

Humans are intricately and inextricably connected to the land and our earth. Taking a critical and holistic approach, Anthropologies of Land considers full books/texts that explore and engage this relationship. To both shift the centers from which we can perceive these complex relationships, and to appreciate ethnographic storytelling and form, the course reads texts that attend to the land from different perspectives
